Creature and The Woods

Formed in 2014 by singer-songwriter/guitarist Roger Molina (Noise Ratchet), Creature and the Woods evolved into a harmonic brotherhood with Justin Rodriguez (Counterfeit), Dan Cervantes (Howlin’ Rain, Mrs. Henry), Jody Bagley (Mrs. Henry), and Chad Lee (Silent Comedy). Earning praise for heart-pounding performances and rich four-part harmonies, Creature and the Woods bends punk ethos with folk’s melodic sensibility, putting their finger on the primal, Americana pulse.

Their 2017 debut Rise established their “howling groove of indie-folk and rock & roll,” moving between tender ballads and high-energy throwdowns. Follow-up record J Tree was recorded during a supermoon weekend in Joshua Tree, an almost ghostly session sparked by a tribal drum-circle jam. The result is an expansive, atmospheric record; layered guitars, keys, and harmonies channeling the band’s collective consciousness and the desert’s overwhelming presence into something both raw and transcendent.
