Zooluxx
When Karl Denson of Tiny Universe first heard Zooluxx, he didn’t just take notice—he became a fan, describing their sound as “a gang of rabid hamsters in a cutlery truck flying down a steep hill with no brakes!” So impressed, Denson invited the trio to his San Diego studio, producing their debut EP The Ghetto Starship (2019).
Zooluxx, who consists of Troy V (guitar), Ned Casual (bass), and Princess Frank (drums), craft a kaleidoscopic sound of psychedelic rock, funk, jazz, and free-form improvisation, with influences including James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, and Funkadelic.
Rooted in the heart of LA, Zooluxx embodies the kind of band you wish you could have seen live but now only lives in myth—an uncontainable force whose residencies, guerrilla-style videos, and fearless experimentation blur every genre line. As US Rocker describes, they are the “Los Angeles version of Prince multiplied by four [...] The audience couldn’t get enough”.
