Puerto
Known for drugged-out Beach Boys melodies, sunlit Dr. Dog–style pop, and hypnotic rhythms, surf rock duo Puerto channels the sun-soaked energy of Southern California. The band has quickly made waves in the San Diego music scene, especially with their debut album, Portugal, which brings their distinctive style to an international stage. Puerto appears in Kyle Buthman’s surf video Scenic Route to Salinas, and collaborates with Salty Crew on events and branding.
Guitarist Zach Polletta weaves Duane Eddy reverb, Wes Montgomery jazz voicings, and Santana-style solos, while Sean Nowland’s drumming fuses Art Blakey fury with classic surf backbeats. Formed after a surf trip through Europe, the duo has gained attention supporting acts like Mattson 2 and Montalban Quintet.
Their debut album Portugal, blends jazz, ’60s rock, and soul into a modern surf classic; a journey away from drug frenzies, city malaise, failed romances, and manic excess, searching instead for coastal refuge.
